After enjoying a sunny day at the beach, you may find yourself dealing with unwanted tan lines. Here are ten effective home remedies to help you remove tan and restore your skin's natural glow:

  1. Turmeric with Mustard Oil

When it comes to tan removal, lightening blemishes or spots or to get an instant glow on face, turmeric is the hero ingredient. But, not the powdered one which often people would have this misconception that using Turmeric/ Haldi powder will give the exact results. No, it won't also it can be harsh on your skin. As we all know all these packaged and processed things would contain some chemicals/ preservatives to increase the shelf life.

Moreover, it's always best if we can use organic stuff on our skin.

So, let's get started with our power booster pack and follow the steps as mentioned below -

• Take one or two pieces of raw turmeric and peel the skin off.

• Grind it with a little water to get paste texture.

• Once the paste is ready, take two tablespoons of mustard oil in a bowl and mix it with the turmeric paste.

• Now apply on your face and neck, and massage a bit.

• Keep it for 15 - 20 mins

• Now the most important part is washing. Most often mistake that people make is to get rid of the yellow stain they would start cleaning with soap which is Big No when applying turmeric. It will cause reaction and it's not going to do any good to your skin.

If applying turmeric you need to know that it will give you good visible yellow stain and that's how it works.

So, it's always better you do this on weekends or select dates when you don't have to out.

It can be applied to your legs, hands, or any area where your skin appears tanned or pigmented.

2. Tomato Tan Removal Packs

Tomatoes acts as natural bleach, you might have heard it already and that's correct! But are you applying the tomatoes directly on your face to get rid of the tan?

Tomatoes when applied directly can surely get your skin rid off the tan but can cause rashes or small red bumps on your face, especially the ones with sensitive skin since it contains citric acid.

You might have heard or experienced that Vitamin C serums are not for everyone. Some people get rashes or burns as well. Similarly, for tomatoes you need to be extra cautious.

Let's see how we can use tomatoes in tan removal packs -

  • Making a face pack with curd and tomatoes. The quickest and safest! Curd contains lactic acid which helps maintaining the moisture in the skin along with the tomato's natural bleaching process.

  • Multani Mitti with tomatoes can do wonders for your skin. This goes for Combination to Dry skin people.

  • Power Pack with Turmeric, Curd, Gram Flour (Besan) and tomato juice will give you an instant glow! You can use this pack in gaps of two - three days to reduce the tan or blemishes.

3. Turmeric and Gram Flour (Besan) Packs

This Pack can also work as a gentle scrub, you can use this pack/scrub or popularly known as one of the magical Ubtans in India, on weekly basis to get rid off the stubborn Tan or blemishes. Let's follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Take one tablespoon of gram flour and mix it with grinned raw turmeric and you can add a teaspoon of lemon juice or curd as well.

  • Mix the paste thoroughly so that there are no lumps left.

  • Take a hot shower, so that your pores are open and then apply this paste wherever it's required except the intimate areas.

  • Let it dry for 10 - 15 mins.

  • Now, to wash off this paste, you can start rubbing it off gently like you do with any scrub product.

This will leave your skin smooth and supple along with diminishing the tan. Of course, the tan will not go away with one application, but if you repeat this process for two or three weekends, it will surely give you the desired results.

4. Aloe Vera Gel Pack

This is the easiest and my favourite pack for tan removal and for some quick relaxation. This is one of the top ingredients when it comes to skin rejuvenating, relaxation and de-blemish or de-tan. It's cooling properties not just gives you heavenly experience but also heal the harsh skin burns and post tan spots easily.

I'm certain you probably have an Aloe Vera plant at home, and if you don't, you should get one—you'll definitely thank me! Hahaha!

Let's get started with how to use this power plant -

  • Aloe Vera Gel Cubes - Just scrape the gel out of the Aloe Vera leaves and put it in a bowl. Mix the gel thoroughly since it's a bit slimy. Then put the gel into your ice trays and store it in the refrigerator until it freezes. Take it out and rub it on your washed skin gently.

  • Aloe Gel and Coffee Scrub - Take a tablespoon of organic coffee and mix it with aloe gel. Coffee should be in powdered form. Use this as a scrub. Coffee is also one of the hero De-tan ingredients.

  • Aloe Vera and Rice Water Gel - To prepare this, take a bowl of uncooked rice and let it soak for up to 10 minutes. Then, drain the water from the rice and combine this water with aloe gel, transferring the mixture into a spray bottle. Apply this spray to your skin after sun exposure to soothe it from the heat and harsh sun rays.

5. Coffee Mask for Tan Removal

You've probably noticed many products featuring coffee as the main ingredient, such as scrubs, lotions, and packs. However, why choose artificial and chemically enhanced products when you can easily make your own packs and scrubs at home?

Coffee can effectively reduce blemishes and tan. You can easily use the coffee you have in your kitchen. However, there are some essential tips and steps you need to follow to achieve the desired results. Let's explore them -

  • You use powdered coffee instead of large granules because these can damage your skin barrier.

  • Consider purchasing organic coffee from an online/offline store.

  • For optimal results, use a homemade coffee scrub prior to applying any of the aforementioned tan removal packs, as this will open the skin pores, allowing the beneficial ingredients of the packs and masks to penetrate more effectively.

  • You can make quick coffee masks by mixing them with honey and gram flour.
