When it comes to your skin, you should not think just once or twice, but a hundred times before trying something you saw on the Internet or social media platforms about trending skincare routines and hacks to achieve flawless skin in no time. Don't make your skin a guinea pig for testing all the products available in the market!

Don't make your skin a guinea pig for testing all the products available in the market!

The skincare market has really taken off lately, and so has the number of people buying these products. Remember how our moms used to just use Fair & Lovely or Vicco Turmeric creams for any event? And for general skincare, it was all about Boroline or Boroplus, and that was it! But still, their skin looks amazing—flawless, glowing, smooth, and soft—even now. Meanwhile, we're spending a ton on different skincare stuff and still can't seem to get our skin to look just normal!

Why? The answer is simple, you are just exposing yourself to more harmful chemicals instead of protecting it from.

These days, everyone knows about serums like Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Glycolic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid, and more. And then there are all those skin treatments like chemical peels and mesotherapy!

The real issue isn't the products themselves. It's that people are jumping into using these serums just because they saw a viral video or reel and think it'll work for them. They're getting treatments like chemical peels and glutathione injections from any random salon or skincare place. Plus, they're taking supplements like collagen, glutathione drinks and many more on their own without even checking with a doctor.

Honestly, I've been there too—I went through a phase where I was constantly trying out tons of skincare products, and my skin ended up being a total disaster. It took me a whole year and some medical help to finally get my skin back to normal.

I'm not suggesting we should avoid doing anything or using any products. However, before trying something new, it's important to understand your skin and the product. If possible, consult a dermatologist or cosmetologist, particularly for products with active ingredients. These serums can significantly improve skin, but if they're not suitable, they might cause severe burns, marks, and unsightly patches.

10 Essential Tips for Starting Skincare

  1. Observe your skin to identify its needs and problems. Just like you would take a painkiller for a headache and not a fever medicine, it's important to understand the specific issue with your skin to treat it correctly.

  2. 6-Step Skincare Routine is not for everyone, and is not even necessary. If you are seeing that you are getting acnes or rashes after following the skincare. You need to stop and check which product is not suiting you. What can be the replacement or can be just skipped.

  3. Keeping an eye on your internal health is super important; your skin can actually give you clues about what's happening inside your body. Just slapping on a pricey cream won't fix things if there's a deeper health issue at play. Take breakouts or acne, for instance—they might be linked to more than just hormones.

  4. Consulting with Dermatologist/Cosmetologist is important when you think your skin needs extra care or have skin concerns and don't become one yourself by reading stuffs available on internet.

  5. Don't believe in magical potions. No product out there can magically transform your skin overnight, no matter how famous the brand is or how many viral videos they post as proof.

  6. Get chemical-based skin treatments from legit, certified places, not just any random beauty or skin service provider. These treatments come with their own risks. A doctor won't always suggest peels unless you really need them.

  7. What works for one person might not work for you Since your skin is different from your sister's or best friend's, what works for them might not work for you. Vitamin C could be amazing for your friend's skin, but it might have the opposite effect on yours.

  8. Don't give second chances to the products that didn't suit you. Don't wait for your skin to get accustomed to the newly applied cream/serum; if it didn't suit you the first time, it won't ever.

  9. Always do a patch test no matter what, even if it's from a reputable brand and you have been using their other products. You still need to do a patch test before you include it in your kit.

  10. Stick to the basics, you can never go wrong with simple and basic skincare routines, which are: washing your face and cleaning it properly, scrubbing twice a week, moisturizing your skin well, and applying sunscreen when out in the sun. Try out homemade skincare recipes as per your skin type.

Last but not the least, We all have unique skin types and should focus on improving our skin's appearance and health.
